Mick Wright is being an idiot again…
I don’t agree with BRCK BM that family matters are completely off-limits, particularly if those family members are making political stump speeches. It also extends to spouses, siblings, children and extended family who don’t project themselves upon the public stage, to the extent it reveals something important about the candidate’s character or ideology.
Politician’s kids are off-limits (or should be) unless that child injects themselves into the public forum. Mick is a young fellow and does not realize that even in my short life span, the private aspects of even a President’s life were off-limits to the media. The press did not gossip about FDR’s physical ailments or JFK’s midnight liaisons until recent decades. The attacks on children of politicians did not begin in earnest until this past decade of politics. What we are seeing with Palin is far beyond even those intrusions of recent years.
There will soon come a time when no honest person will want to subject their families to the political process. I know Mick has led a perfect life, but most young people make stupid mistakes. Man, I could write a book about my late teens and early twenties and I thank God often for allowing me to survive that period of my life. But if we are going to abide by this new Mick standard, then I want the medical records for Obama’s daughters to see if they are still virgins. Sound absurb??? Well so do you Mick.
[h/t] Post Politics
Mick Responds:
You can’t disagree with my opinion without calling me names and making assumptions about me and my family? That’s weak. You won’t link the post so people can read the full text rather than your quote and the strawman argument you created for me? Weak. You’ve disabled comments without registration? Weak.
Mick this post is about ACK’s post and is duly linked. He of course links back to your post. The commentary is that it is not an intellectual exercise, but a deeply emotional one of bad taste. We don’t do intellectual, we tell it like normal people see it. You are a “public figure” Mick, shouldn’t your family be fair game? Of course not. Point made.
And yes, registration is required to post comments. If you lost 2400 posts due to an internet attack via the comments page, you would to.
