Marsha Blackburn’s campaign Worried at Tom Leatherwood’s run for office?
The opposition research for the 7th Congressional District race is gearing up — and requiring a staggering number of public documents from Shelby County government.A volunteer for Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s campaign has asked the county for thousands of pages of documents about Republican primary challenger and Shelby County Register Tom Leatherwood. In a letter dated April 25, Nashville resident Tyler E. Jones requested every e-mail Leatherwood has sent since taking the register’s office in 2001, what kind of county vehicle he drives, travel expenses and purchases he’s charged to the county credit card and a copy of his official schedule. He also requested information about the register’s office, including budget numbers and contracts since 2001.
In the letter, Jones said he was authorized to spend up to $1,000. The county charges 25 cents a copy.
“This is something the campaign is doing and something we’re funding,” said Darcy Anderson, spokesperson for Blackburn’s campaign. “Any registered voter can get that information.”
Now here is the quote of the day, from Tom Leatherwood!
“It’s anybody’s right to request this information,” Leatherwood said. “I’m not concerned about what they might find. I know that they will not find any corruption on my part. … They will not find any gross negligence where I lost track of hundreds of thousand of dollars entrusted in me. Both of those things have happened in her campaign.”
Priceless!

I think Leatherwood will be giving the old girl a run for her money.
Did you miss spelt campaign on purpose? Thats my gig.
I corrected it, thanks, no was not on purpose… dang government schools…

Everyone has to file discloser records. So what if the Blackburn folks are asking for more of Leatherwood’s records?
If he’s been investigating her should she or her staff be able to look at his record?
You guys want open government? But complain when some one asks to see some records?
Jim where are you records? or do you not count pandering for pocket change in Barlett as campaign contributions?
Holt,
No one is complaining at all. Even Leatherwood is shrugging it off.
I personally do not care to go digging in other folks business and would be glad for you to go through my records of public service.
Give Chief Materna with the Quito Volunteer Fire Department a ring and see if he has anything you might be intereseted in. If you talk to Harvey tell him I said hello. It’s been a long time.
About my record collection;
I’ve got some Merle Hagard, Frampton Live, Bad Company’s Desolation Angels, Van Halen (Roth not Hagar). There’s a lot of them but unfortunately some melted in the attic.
If we have a yard sale, I’ll post it here and you can come check them out.
You’ve give me an idea about raising campaign funds. I’ll get a bucket and stand on a corner in G’town.
Holt, did Jim loose track of hundred thousands of dollars too?
Jim, you’re walkin’ on the fightin’ side of me. At least you don’t let your hair grow long and shaggy like the hippies out on San Fransisco do. even if you are a liberal
Ahh, Merle Haggard…classic.
Actually, I did lose a twenty the other day. Darn if I know where it is.
I wish I had 400k to prove to you all I would not lose it.
Holt,
you better go over there where the rightwing washington bloggers worship you favorite congresswoman.
They are calling her one of the “Dirty 100″.
