Don’t hurt the protected classes (or even think about it bubba)….

IN GENERAL- Whoever, whether or not acting under color of law, in any circumstance described in subparagraph (B), willfully causes bodily injury to any person or, through the use of fire, a firearm, or an explosive or incendiary device, attempts to cause bodily injury to any person, because of the actual or perceived religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability of any personH. R. 1913

I never understood hate crime laws. We don’t harm another human being out of love, but why would the statute single out classes of human beings and give special rights to some? If I shoot a white guy, well that is just aggrevated assault, but with me being white and shooting a black guy while calling him a nigger will get me another 10 years. These stupid laws have gone a long way to protect us haven’t they? That is why I still carry a gun anywhere I go in Memphis…can’t you feel the love?

The world has gone crazy somewhere along the way and equal protection seems to be an idea who’s time has come and gone.

Meanwhile, at the UN:

A Christian human rights group expressed “grave concern” on Tuesday for the future of individual freedom as a number of states at the U.N. Durban Review Conference pushed agendas that seek to protect religions and governments at the expense of the rights of individuals.

“It is scandalous that a U.N. Conference on Racism has been hijacked by states who are pursuing an altogether different agenda threatening the very idea of individual rights,” said Tina Lambert, advocacy director of Christian Solidarity Worldwide. “In seeking to protect ‘religion’ from defamation it is clear that existing international human rights protections will be undermined, specifically freedom of religion and freedom of expression.”

The world, she be a changing….
