I think you're right about the timing. It sounds like just as Fox was increasing Tiller coverage for a period, CNN was increasing their coverage of Pvt Long and then looped around while we went to make a sandwich. I end up feeling like my remote is a Wii paddle.

Well I'm encouraged to know that CNN cable did cover Pvt Long because when I saw how little of that coverage could be found on their website on the days immediately after, it infuriated me. Just as a point of interest, I thought Fox was much better at focusing on Pvt Long, trying pretty hard to strike a 50/50 coverage with Tiller. I did think they gave the edge to Pvt Long, rightly.

Of the two outlets, I think this much is true: CNN is solidly in the Permissive/Left camp, while Fox is solidly on the Conservative/Right side of the line. What I continue to seek is an outlet that is neither. (Yeah, I know, I'm wishin' myself 'good luck with that'....)

I don't think anyone should have to pay extra for news channels. Another reason why the internet has become more popular than TV for news consumption, and more egalitarian. Though for that to improve our knowledge, the people who use it need to be discerning, critically thinking, engaged and educated. (I don't mean with college degrees, or a quick peek at Wikipedia.)

Thank you again.

You sound like me. I watched CNN too before 9/11 but switched when they refused to wear the flag lapel pin because it would give them the appearance of being on America's side of the war. Duh! So I started watching FOX News. We pay extra just so that we can get FOX (not in the regular package).

It was most likely a timing thing. We only switched to CNN to find coverage, and there it was. Every time we switched back to FOX, they were talking Tiller. My point was that CNN was definitely covering it, and FOX dropped the ball by focusing too much on Tiller early on and losing people like me to CNN for the day.

Hi, I'm a new visitor and I've been very interested in your coverage of Muhammad the assassin of Pvt William Long in Conway, AR. I appreciate it very much because I haven't been able to find much coverage of it pretty much anywhere in the MSM.

I have only disagreement though. I leave the TV parked on the news all day long. Ever since 9-11. At first it was always left on CNN. (Then they did a few things that angered and offended me so I switched.)

I saw slightly better coverage of Pvt Long's assassination on Fox than I could find on CNN or on CNN[.]com. There were days when there was absolutely zero about Pvt Long on CNN's website while the top two items in the "Latest News" were focused on Dr Tiller. The imbalance was nauseating.

While Bill O'Reilly is not perfect, neither is CNN. If CNN catches its mistakes and publicly apologizes, like Bill did, then good for them. If they do not, that would not surprise me.

Again, thank you for your reporting.
