There are some in Tennessee pushing for an Article V Convention to either propose new Amendments or scrap the entire Constitution and start over.
The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, [...]
I will begin by repeating some things I have said frequently just so that those who link into this post will understand where I am coming from. I am NOT a member of any tea party organization or movement. That is a choice I made last year when I began to see the [...]
2010 Census things you should know…
The American Community Survey is conducted under the authority of Title 13, United States Code, Sections 141 and 193, and response is mandatory. According to Section 221, persons who do not respond shall be fined not more than $100. Title 18 U.S.C. Section 3571 and Section 3559, in effect amends [...]
Does any of this sound familiar?
Some observers have regarded Jefferson’s election in 1800 as revolutionary. This may be true in a restrained sense of the word, since the change from Federalist leadership to Republican was entirely legal and bloodless. Nevertheless, the changes were profound. The Federalists lost control of both the presidency and the Congress.
By [...]
This is not a hit on Obama and his “Change” during the 2008 Presidential Campaign, but a slap to the face of people in general. I am watching a documentary on the General Motors EV1 and how it was squashed. I am not here to write about the EV1 or that fiasco, but it does [...]
I have challenged some of the supporters of health care reform to demonstrate the constitutional validity of such a government intervention into the health care system. Of course the age-old argument of “implied powers‘ and Chief Justice John Marshall’s invocation of them in the 1819 Supreme Court decision in McCulloch v. Maryland is frequently heard.
I am [...]
Would it not have been better to go “March On DC” when someone would be there to gripe at?
Silly Republicans!
I’m going for the free beer.
Was he talking to Senators? Would he dare infer that there were U.S. Senators who were not familiar with the contents of the U.S. Constitution? Actually, that would explain a lot of things.
I heard a lot of complaining about President Bush and his disregard for the Constitution in dealing with international terrorism. It does not matter that any policies he enacted was done with the advice and consent of Congress and were at the very least directed towards the defense of this Nation. His policies operated in [...]
WHY ?
1. The Convention CANNOT be limited to a single proposed amendment and is likely to be a runaway, like the first one in 1787.
2. The Convention could fundamentally change our Constitution or replace it altogether.
3. Selection of Delegates for the constitutional convention is undefined in the plain language of Article V. Would they be appointed or elected [...]
Let me start with the Matthews rant about Limbaugh and Palin…via Hot Air (sorry the MSNBC embed did not work here).
Transcript of Palin’s remarks via LR
“We need to be aware of the creation of a fearful population, and fearful lawmakers, being led to believe that big government is the answer, to bail out the private sector, [...]
Sean Hannity likes to assert how far liberals will go to gain power, but in the same controversy is Alberto Gonzales, the Attorney General (a “conservative”).

My buddy Wintermute says, “This kind of s__t makes me sick.” I agree with him and he has more details at his blog, the Daily Docket. I agree, [...]
Read the full article, but here is enough to get the thrust of it…
WASHINGTON — The Federal Bureau of Investigation earlier this year launched a nationwide operation targeting white supremacists and “militia/sovereign-citizen extremist groups,” including a focus on veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, according to memos sent from bureau headquarters to field offices.
The initiative, dubbed [...]
I have waited a few days before commenting on recent events while I sorted out my thoughts. I guess one of the bad things about being older is that history is still vivid in a person’s memory. I recall as a youth watching all of the documentaries about WWII Nazi Germany and how Hitler nationalized [...]
Senator Harry Reid needs to read the United States Constitution and it’s Amendments:
AMENDMENT XVII
Passed by Congress May 13, 1912. Ratified April 8, 1913.
Note: Article I, section 3, of the Constitution was modified by the 17th amendment.
The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, [...]
