I do not usually do this, but the more I think about it the angrier I get. I am speaking of a trip to Memphis area gun shop, Guns and Ammo. Those of you that live in Memphis know that we all call this shop Guns and A$$holes because of the service you receive there. I guess having the best selection of firearms and the best prices in town lead them to believe that they did not have to be nice to their customers. When I have gone in there to purchase a gun I have always come out feeling as if they thought they were doing me a favor by letting me purchase from them. Fortunately there are several other options in Memphis and the surrounding area. We have Range USA, Brighton Arms, Classic Arms, Bass Pro Shops, Top Brass and Arms-Fair to fill our holsters and gun racks.
BCR has not been paid by anyone for this post and hopefully Farmer John will leave it standing. I just want people to expect more and not to accept less out of the businesses they purchase from. We all fight hard to keep our 2nd Amendment right and we should be supported as customers by those we in turn support. If you are not treated with respect let it be known that you can and will take your business somewhere else.
This is not a hit on Obama and his “Change” during the 2008 Presidential Campaign, but a slap to the face of people in general. I am watching a documentary on the General Motors EV1 and how it was squashed. I am not here to write about the EV1 or that fiasco, but it does fit in with “change.”
While watching the EV1 documentary I see the NAFTA, 2nd Amendment, illegal immigration and every other beast we fight in operation. I know this happens and has happened for decades, but knowing and then really seeing are way different. People place the blame on Democrats, Republicans, big business, big oil and whoever else they can name when they are not the ones to place the ownership of these problems.
The American public owns 100% of the blame for the problems of this nation. The left and right are too busy fighting each other and do not see what the real problems are and who orchestrates them. I am as guilty as anyone. Just read some of my posts. I get as lost in the tangents as everybody else, but I do see my faults. We have hate crimes, racism, religious intolerance and unemployment to draw our attention away from the real problem. The real problem is as simple as those we have elected to public office.
We are duped, as voters, into thinking there is a difference in those we have elected. Why is it the same problems persist from our Republican House and Senate now that we have a Democrat controlled House and Senate? We elected a President just because he was not associated with Bush and yet Bush policies remain in place. Bush was elected because we were tired of Clinton and his policies yet Bush kept the Clinton policies throughout his reign. The circumstances around Bush’s election play into this as well. How much uproar was there from Clinton’s NAFTA and then Bush pushed through CAFTA? Why did they perpetuate these trade agreements with 90% or greater of the voting public being against them? They are all the same and that is why!
Anyone could draw the same conclusions as I do if you just take a few minutes to look into it. Our elected officials no longer represent those that elected them to office. We continue to put the same ones in office each election day and we expect change. Even if the names change their stance remains the same. Look at the “new” names that are being elected to office today.“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”The Who said “we won’t get fooled again” and yet we continue to fooled time and time again.

Not that I invented the “shooting” fundraiser, but I held one back in 2006. Now three years later, this fellow is holding one in South Carolina and raffling off an AK-47 in the process. I want to tell this gentleman not to fret not getting the NRA nod. I was the pro-gun candidate in my race and the NRA endorsement was given to one of my opponents that did not even own a firearm. Just goes to show what the NRA stands for and it is not for truly pro-gun candidates.
I am sure we all recall the coverage the media gave to the murder of Tiller the Baby Killer, while virtually ignoring the shooting of American soldiers on American soil in Little Rock, AR by an Islamic nutjob. So I am sure this will be all over the news as well.
OWOSSO, Mich. — Prosecutors say the man charged in deaths of an anti-abortion activist and a businessman told them he wanted to kill third person.
Harlan Drake, 33, of Owosso, was arraigned this afternoon on two counts of first-degree murder, one count of using a gun in commission of a crime, and carrying a gun with the intent to commit a crime.
Did not see anything on the news networks about this today, but I am sure they will get around to covering the story. Or maybe the fact that pro-life folks get killed by nutjobs too is something they don’t want to mention.
Schneider says Bowman approached a security checkpoint near the Cannon House Office Building in a 4-door Honda Civic and told officers he wanted to park.
People who want to get into the area must have a permit and have their vehicles searched. The timing of the request raised an officer’s suspicion, Schneider said, and Bowman consented to a vehicle search.
Schneider said a shotgun and ammunition were found in Bowman’s trunk. Bowman was charged with having an unregistered firearm and ammunition, she said.
I am writing this post while I sit in my pick-up truck (ain’t 3G great!) and behind my seat is a loaded 12-gauge shotgun with 5 extra rounds strapped to the stock. When I drove to Cohen’s townhall meeting, it was there. When I went to Senator Corker’s townhall meeting, it was there. When I go to the grocery store, it is there. It is as much a part of my normal vehicle emergency equipment as the car jack is.
What is missing from the story is that the man drove over from Falls Church, Va (just across the Potomac) where there is nothing unusual or illegal about having his shotgun in the trunk. He most likely did not even give it a second thought. He was just looking for a parking spot in DC and ended up being the daily headline, “Man With Gun Arrested During Obama Address”.
So Jimbo, don’t forget to leave yer artillery in the motel safe as you guys go marching on DC tomorrow. We don’t want you to become a headline in the evening edition of the newspaper.
I really did not want to have two race-baiting posts on the blog on the same day, so since Jimbo did one yesterday I waited until after midnight to do this one.
My heart jumped for joy when I heard about this in Arizona.
A dozen people carrying guns have showed up outside a conference hall in Phoenix, Arizona where Barack Obama was speaking about the US wars overseas.
People carrying weapons at town hall meetings across the US as officials debate Obama’s healthcare plan with the public has become a common scene and a show of popular dissent against it. – Press TV
As many will recall, we had one person asked to leave Steve Cohen’s town hall here in Memphis because he was armed. Others who were armed did not recognize the authority of the person who asked them to check in with SCSO. Although I did not wear my Glock 40 cal, I did wear my back-up weapon in an ankle holster to both Steve Cohen’s and Bob Corker’s town halls. Sorry, but no way I’m going to attend one of these things with SEIU and ACORN thugs running around playing bully and not have a way to defend myself and others readily available. The Left started the violence and the what now seems to be ’common knowledge’ that we are now coming prepared seems to have stopped a lot of the incidents.
I am sure that is what a lot of the gun-toting is all about in Arizona, but at the same time I would suggest it is a reminder of what the Second Amendment is all about. The idea that people are coming to these events armed does make me somewhat uncomfortable. It only takes one idiot to ratchet up the violence, one rookie cop, one stupid union thug, one crazy, and this whole thing heads in a new direction to an end that cannot be predicted.
However, this is not how the weapons are being portrayed by some in the media.
After learning that people armed with guns have been showing up at President Barack Obama’s town hall meetings, I must change the last sentence of last week’s column.
It read, “I’m thinking that many of the 54 million supporters want you to lead marches and demonstrators, too.”
Here’s what happened:
A man stood outside a meeting in Portsmouth, N.H., with a gun strapped to his leg. The town’s police chief told reporters that it’s legal for people to openly carry guns on private property.
On Monday, a dozen gun-toting protesters showed up in Phoenix, where Obama was defending healthcare reform. One of the protesters carried an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle. Police said no laws were broken.
In both cases, the protesters had nerve. The Secret Service was well aware of Kostnic and the Arizona protesters and constantly watched all of them.
I understand the New Hampshire and Arizona laws but disagree with them, just as I continue to disagree with Virginia’s gradual loosening of its gun restrictions.
Virginia law allows guns to be carried openly in bars and restaurants. I don’t care for this law. And I particularly oppose allowing college or high school students to have weapons on their campuses – again whether concealed or not.
Going back to the Obama episode: Even though neither of the incidents I described involved law-breaking, one would think that a president’s safety takes precedence over local gun rights laws. When Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans and other Gulf Coast communities, President George W. Bush received extraordinary criticism for his slow response to the disaster.
Can anyone imagine a black man or men licensed to carry firearms openly being allowed within a mile of Bush’s news conference? Heck no!
First of all, all of these folks were carrying their weapons in accordance with the law and their constitutional rights. At no time was Obama ever under any threat from anyone. Had the intent been to harm Obama, one of two things would have been the case. First, the weapon would have been concealed until ready to pop the man, or second, there would have been hundreds, if not thousands of armed citizens capable of overwhelming the Secret Service and law enforcement.
And then there is this…
“A man at a pro-health care reform rally…wore a semiautomatic assault rifle on his shoulder and a pistol on his hip….there are questions about whether this has racial overtones….white people showing up with guns.” – News Busters
Notice in the video, they show the guns, but they do not show the mans face. If you had no other source of information, you would believe that this was some white nationalist walking around with a semi-automatic rifle waiting around for Obama to show up. Now scroll up and see a picture of the man I posted above. Yep, definitely “white people showing up with guns!”
They must be using a pair of Jimbo’s special glasses.
ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20, SECTION 20-21 SO AS TO EXERCISE THE CITY OF MEMPHIS GOVERNMENT’S STATUTORY OPTION TO OPT OUT OF ANY STATE LAW THAT WOULD AUTHORIZE THE CARRYING OF FIREARMS ON PUBLIC PARKS, PLAYGROUNDS, CIVIC CENTERS, AND OTHER PUBLIC RECREATIONAL BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS, UP FOR THIRD AND FINAL READING. Ordinance No. 5320
Chairman Lowery recognized the following person from the audience: Ronald Daniels, 2351 Forrest Avenue, Memphis, TN. 38112
MOTION: Collins
SECOND: Boyd
AYES: Boyd, Brown, Collins, Flinn, Ford, Fullilove, Halbert, Morrison, Strickland,
Ware and Chairman Lowery
NAYS: Conrad and Hedgepeth
I finally got around to double-checking for the City Council minutes for the ‘opt out’ vote from last month. There is not much we can do about it, except express our dis-satisfaction at election time. My City Councilman is Wanda Halbert and certainly will not be a person I will support next election (nor for City Mayor for which she is now a candidate). Wintermute and Guleff’s darling Strickland also stabbed us in the back, so he can count me as a non-supporter in any future ventures. Even Shea Flinn whom I thought better of voted for this ordinance. Lowery can also count on me not voting for him in the upcoming Mayoral election.
Those who track BCR know I am NOT a fan of Kemp Conrad, but he did good on this one (as did Hedgepeth).

At least that is what folks like Left Wing Cracker would have you believe. The little burg known as Collierville, TN, voted to allow permit holders to carry in Collierville Parks. Collierville sits a short distance away from Memphis, TN in the Southeast corner of Shelby County.
Since the Tennessee legislature voted to allow concealed carry permit holders to carry in state parks there has been much heated debate in the cities in TN on whether or not to allow carry in city parks. Collierville is the first in Shelby County to allow carry in its parks. Memphis voted against allowing carry in their parks with two supposed Republicans voting against carry permit holders.
The facts almost never support the fears. During Clinton’s regime we saw the assault weapons ban that did nothing to stave off any crime. We have seen the most anti-gun states host the worst crime rates with the states having the most liberal gun carry laws having the lowest crime rates. The blood will not be flowing in the streets. Those of us that have permits are law-abiding people. We take handguns and handgun safety seriously and we know where the line between myth and reality lies. Prevention of carry does not and will not ever stop crime. The only likely action would be an increase in crime.
My hat is tipped to the Collierville elected officials that have the good sense to vote for carry allowance in its parks. Left Wing Cracker, shame on you for promoting stupidity.
Allowing all proper respect towards Randy Wade, the fact of the matter is that Mr. Wade is in no position (that I am aware) to make CCP holders do anything in regards to checking in with anyone. I think I remember Mr. Wade telling me a few weeks ago that he is an ex-deputy along with being an ex-Vietnam veteran. So I’m pretty sure he is now just a hired helper to Congressman Cohen who does not have that authority.
This may be why some carrying CCP holders that I saw ignored his request.
After seeing many of the videos of union thugs actually assaulting people, one would have to be a complete idiot to even ask why so many people brought their guns to a town hall meeting in one of the most dangerous cities in the country.
In the comments of one of his liberal buddies one fool actually asked who it was that would physically assault Congressman Blackburn at her event earlier this week.

I wish I could make it.
Who’s going to throw the pie in my stead?
If you can get her the way we got Bil Kristol it’ll be a hoot.

Duh Cracker never made mention to this asshole that maliciously hitting someone with anything like that is a crime. If one person is willing to do that, what might the next liberal loon be willing to do?
This act of stupidity was a player in turning a small ‘FaceBook-get-together’ intended for maximum of 30 Blackburn supporters into a 230 person surge of support. It was large enough that she had to move it to the parking lot. Rany Wade’s counterpart in Blackburn’s Bartlett office, Mr. Scott Golden, was grinning ear to ear. Who could blame him.
Blackburn also had the free benefit of the fact that one of the Mid South Tea Party folks had a PA system in his vehicle to accommodate the parking lot situation. I guess he knew carrying that thing around with him 24/7 would pay off sooner or later. Go Dave!
I personally found myself in a rather awkward situation defending my Congresswoman’s right to be there. To say the least, I am absolutely NOT a fan of hers. I do think she has the right, just like Cohen, to assemble without fear of being assaulted. People who come to speak their mind in opposition is fine. Some folks did just that. I actually agreed with some of the thoughts they conveyed.
With all of that being said, let’s get back to Saturday morning.
I would like to add these thoughts:
Hats go off to Cohen for having the brains to know not to close the doors.
Hats go off to Cohen for having the brains not to stage a fake Town Hall meeting.
Hats go off to Cohen for having the brains not to have union thugs show up in union shirts. That was what we were looking to find. They would have been vastly outnumbered and most probably outgunned.
Unfortunately, I would guess that it is just a matter of time before one of the union thugs get themselves shot.
Now this is exactly what I have been warning against. The Obama Squad cannot continue demonizing Americans who oppose him. The caller is exactly right, and she is NOT issuing a threat, but talking reality. That is why I am leaving my gun at home tomorrow, just so I won’t be the one who fired the shot that leads to a modern day Lexington. However, people are NOT going to stand by and watch a bunch of blue and/or red T-shirt thugs beat up on fellow citizens because they are exercising their constitutional rights.
So SEIU and ACORN, consider yourself put on notice.

Well, if there is going to be a shooting, then let it be the good guys who come out on top.
KNOXVILLE — Knoxville police are investigating an attempted home invasion early this morning that ended in an exchange of gunfire, leaving at least one person dead and another wounded.
A homeowner at Carls Lane off Cherokee Trail in South Knoxville told police he heard someone knocking on his door about 5:25 a.m., according to Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk.
The homeowner put a handgun in his pocket as he went to the door.
When he was opening the door, two men attempted to push their way in and he pulled the gun from his pocket and fired two times at them, DeBusk said he told officers.
One of the suspects fired once at the homeowner, the man said.
CHATTANOOGA — Six Chattanooga police officers fired at least 59 shots in killing an armed man who was threatening “suicide by cop” and the police chief said Tuesday they acted properly.
“We are saying that our people did what we trained them to do,” chief Freeman Cooper told Chattanooga radio station WGOW in a live telephone interview Tuesday.
Police said Alonzo Heyward, 32, had roamed around his neighborhood and a restaurant parking lot for about five hours carrying a rifle and threatening to shoot himself before they were called.
I don’t know what police officers are trained to do these days, but back in my day (old 6-shooter days) they taught us to double-tap to center mass and if the guy was still standing after that to finish out my load. So six officers would make 12 rounds and the guy was still standing?
Police released the count of 59 gunshots after a Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s office report Monday showed that Heyward’s body had 43 bullet entry and exit wounds. The medical examiner’s office said some bullets could have caused multiple wounds and a still-to-be completed autopsy report would include those details.
I’m not questioning the officers shooting the wacko, but I am a little concerned about all of those extra rounds flying around the neighborhood. Maybe they might want to revisit their training methods a little?
